Chemnitz – Saxony‘s export grows and SIGMA Medizin-Technik is right in the middle.
With the slogan “Saxony! Worldwide.” the aim of this year’s foreign trade week is to provide targeted information on strategic and practical issues of the foreign business during various events. The events in Chemnitz, Leipzig and Dresden are aimed not only for already active companies but also for export beginners. SIGMA Medizin-Technik participated in the opening event in Chemnitz and was engaged as an export expert with many years of experience abroad at the subsequent panel discussion.
The Saxon Foreign Trade Week 2017 takes place from 3rd to 7th April and offers small and large companies the opportunity to learn about current developments in the export business and to exchange ideas with experts. Last year, Germany – and especially Saxony – was able to record a huge increase in foreign trade.
The kick-off event of this year’s foreign trade week was held on April 3 in the VIP lounge of the new soccer stadium of Chemnitz FC, the “community4you ARENA”. The invitation of Mr Martin Dulig, the Saxon Minister for Economic Affairs, Labor and Transport, and the Saxony’s foreign economic initiative, was accepted by more than 150 companies from all over the region. The main topics of the evening were the current external economic outlook and the challenges of opening up international markets. The importance of increasing internationalization for the Saxon companies was also discussed.
After an interesting and informative lecture by Federal Minister (ret.), Prime Minister (ret.) as well as CEO and founder of RSBK AG, Mr. Rudolf Scharping, the presentress Alexandra Gerlach invited the Minister of State Mr. Dulig, the dean of the TU Chemnitz Univ.-Prof. Dr. Cornelia Zanger, as well as two companies from the Chemnitz/Erzgebirge region for a panel discussion. One of these two companies was SIGMA Medizin-Technik GmbH from Gelenau, which can look back on over 16 successful years on the international market. Our employee Mrs. Sandy Neubert-Mohamed (International Sales Manager) reported on the gained experience and gave other companies – especially beginners – valuable tips for getting started in the export business. Now, SIGMA Medizin-Technik has an annual export turnover of around 30%. At the panel discussion, interested parties were able to collect useful information on preference documents, market entry barriers and regulations. It should be noted, however, that these may vary from one sector to another, because in medical technology, for example, conditions are different from those in the automobile or cosmetics industry.
The theme week, which runs until 07th April 2017, offers a variety of workshops and lectures for export beginners and advanced in Dresden, Leipzig and Chemnitz.
We would like to thank the Chamber of Commerce and Industries Chemnitz and the Saxon Ministry of Foreign Affairs for the invitation and look forward to further joint events. We have gladly passed on some of our many years of experience on the international market to the interested guests.
